Challenge

The modular system had one irreplaceable module owned by external providers. No united source of knowledge about the system. 10+ external integrations the project team is located in 8 different timezones.

Client's pain

The Client was bound with one API provider, which made it impossible for some business growth strategies. The main client's goal was strong back-end expertise in Ruby-on-Rails, DevOps experience to bring the product to independence from some of the third-party services.

The work was started with complex research of the system, and a technical audit, based on it. Then, when the core API of the Telematics module was rebuilt, we involved DevOps specialist to configure all ecosystem interactions align with the new API.

The UbiCar app tracks user driving (think braking, cornering, phone distraction, acceleration and speeding) and uses that information to give a driver score and calculate a premium and discounts.

 

The better the driver is, the better a premium will be. If a user drives well, he is less likely to have an accident, so it makes sense that he should pay less for your insurance – that’s fair and that’s what UbiCar aims to deliver.

User driving behavior is monitored across a variety of trips to give you an average score. It's possible to monitor all scores through a free App.
